Day 1
Flight to Mardin
We start our tour by taking a flight to Mardin from Istanbul. Upon arrival in Mardin, we meet our guide and start our journey.
Hasankeyf
Our first stop is Hasankeyf, an ancient town with a rich history dating back to the Roman and Byzantine periods. We will explore the ruins of the town, including the ruins of the old city walls, the palace, the mosques, and the rock-cut tombs.
Mor Gabriel Monastery
Our next stop is Mor Gabriel Monastery, one of the oldest surviving monasteries in the world, which has been in continuous use for over 1,600 years. We will learn about the history of the monastery and the Syriac Orthodox Church, and explore the beautiful architecture and artwork of the complex.
Midyat State Guesthouse
After visiting Mor Gabriel Monastery, we will drive to Midyat and check into the Midyat State Guesthouse, where we will spend the night. The guesthouse is a beautiful restored mansion that dates back to the Ottoman period.
Midyat Bazaars
In the morning, we will explore the bazaars of Midyat, which are famous for their silver and gold jewelry, traditional textiles, and other handicrafts. We will visit local artisans and craftsmen, and learn about their work.
Savur Kilit Village
Our final stop is Savur Kilit Village, a beautiful and peaceful village located in the Savur district of Mardin. We will explore the village, visit local homes, and learn about the culture and traditions of the people who live there.
